Commentary
And when they were in the worship of others besides Him, glorified and exalted is He, while they acknowledged that He is the Creator of the heavens and the earth, they were in the state of one who believes that that which they worship besides Him is the one who created them, or they shared in that. So there is no ability for others to gather those in His kingdom. Allah, glorified and exalted is He, said, alerting them from their heedlessness and awakening them from their slumber, returning to the proof that He mentioned at the beginning of the surah in another way: "And He is" meaning: Alone "the One who created" meaning: Brought into existence and innovated and determined "the heavens and the earth" meaning: in their greatness and the vastness of what is in them of wisdoms and benefits that are specific "with truth" meaning: because of the establishment of truth, and you see that it is not established in this abode nor is it close to being established. Therefore, it is necessary for everyone who knows that Allah is Wise, may Allah be pleased with him, to believe that there must be a resurrection of the servants after their death - as He promised that - to manifest justice among them, to invalidate every falsehood and establish every truth, and to reveal the wisdom for all of creation.
And when He established that the establishment of truth is the intended goal - He established His ability to do so with His saying: "And the Day He will say" meaning: to the creation and to everything He wants in this abode and that abode "Be, and it will be" meaning: So it will be, it does not fail at all.
And when He established that nothing fails to occur by His command, He justified it by saying: "His saying is the truth" meaning: there is no saying other than it; because most of the sayings of others are falsehood; because he says something and what he intended does not occur; and when He was in the position of warning from His might, He repeated His saying: "And He is the One to whom you will be gathered": "And to Him" meaning: Alone according to the apparent and the hidden "is the dominion on the Day" and when the intended goal was to magnify the blowing of the trumpet, He built for the action His saying: "It will be blown in the trumpet" for the severing of the ties between the creatures, not as you see in this abode from the continuity of causes. And His saying: "The Knower of the unseen" is what is hidden from everything besides Him - glorified is He - "and the witness" is what has become such that the creation can perceive it - while it is a cause for what preceded it from the completeness of ability as will come - if Allah wills - in (Ta-Ha) from the completeness of the warning, meaning: that nothing is hidden from Him of your states, so beware of His recompense on the Day when the ties will be severed, and cooperation and mutual support will cease, and He is, as He usually is - glorified is He - in that He has not mentioned the states of resurrection except that He established in it two fundamentals: the ability over all that is enabled, and the knowledge of all the universal and particular information; because no one can resurrect except the one who possesses both qualities. "And He is" meaning: Alone "the Wise" meaning: the one with complete wisdom, so He does not place anything in other than its place nor without precision, so there is no one to overturn His command, so there must be resurrection. "The All-Aware" of all resources and sources, so nothing of the actions of anyone from the creation is hidden from Him, whether in the apparent or the hidden, so that He neglects them from the reckoning.
