Commentary
And when He indicated - glorified and exalted is He - His power with the troops that surpass enumeration - and although He is free from them by virtue of His might - He alerted with the passive form to the presence of His greatness and the comprehensiveness of His might and power. So He said: ﴿Then﴾ meaning: after their confinement in the restraint of the barrier ﴿they will be returned﴾ meaning: a returner will return them from which they cannot defend themselves at all ﴿to Allah﴾ meaning: the One whose greatness is not limited and whose troops and servants cannot be counted ﴿their Lord﴾ meaning: the Creator of them and the Manager of all their affairs ﴿the Truth﴾ meaning: the one who has a fixed authority, and any authority other than His from the guardians and others is non-existent; because the guardians only know what has appeared to them, while He - glorified is He - knows the hidden and what is more concealed.
And when the addressed person brought to mind His might and power, and envisioned His might and greatness, his heart and hearing became prepared for what is to be conveyed to him and recited to him - he said: ﴿Indeed, to Him﴾ meaning: alone, truly ﴿belongs the judgment﴾. And when the exclusivity of judgment among all creation is a matter that perplexes the mind, and it hardly enters under the imagination, He said, belittling in comparison to His power: (p-141) ﴿And He﴾ meaning: alone ﴿is the swiftest of reckoners﴾ separating between all creatures faster than the glance, just as He distributes their provisions in this world in a similar manner. No one can escape His punishment by prolonging the reckoning nor by arguing about reward or punishment; because He - glorified is He - does not need thought or deliberation, nor a contract or writing. So He is not preoccupied by one reckoning from another nor by one thing from another.
