And when death and resurrection, which they deny, are among the keys of the unseen, and among its great proofs are sleep and awakening from it, along with the repeated kindness in it, and there is also a confirmation of the perfection of power after confirming the perfection of knowledge, he followed that with his saying: ﴿And He﴾ meaning: alone ﴿takes you at death﴾ meaning: He takes your souls completely so that no awareness remains with you at all, preventing you from acting in sleep just as He prevents you in death. He mentioned the origin in that and said: ﴿at night and He knows﴾ meaning: while He knows ﴿what you earn﴾ meaning: what you have gained ﴿by day﴾ meaning: that which sleep has followed, of sins that necessitate destruction. He deals with you in it with forbearance after knowledge and does not hasten against you, and this is the meaning of ﴿Then He will raise you﴾ meaning: He will awaken you after that deep sleep, so He will dispose of you as He wills ﴿in it﴾ meaning: in the day that follows that sleep after you have deserved punishment ﴿to fulfill﴾ meaning: to complete ﴿an appointed term﴾ that He has decreed for the great death.

And when this explanation has been established after that clarification regarding the minor death, the ability to do something similar in the major death has been established, and in it is a great approximation to it. He said: ﴿Then﴾ He will raise you from that death just as He raised you from this one, and your return ﴿is to Him﴾ meaning: alone ﴿is your return﴾ meaning: in reality to the gathering place of recompense, and in meaning with the cessation of causes as has been known in the world ﴿Then﴾ after those long stands and earthquakes and terrors. The tool of delay may indicate the greatness of knowledge regarding that, and to it guides most of what precedes it in the context ﴿He will inform you﴾ meaning: He will inform you with a great, majestic, and comprehensive informing ﴿of what you used to do﴾ meaning: so He will reward you for it. And due to His knowledge, He expressed it with action because the reckoning will be upon those who are obligated and who have the capacity for knowledge. Thus, it has been established - with the perfection of His power - glorified is He - regarding the creation of these things and knowledge of them - His independence in preserving them in every situation and managing them in the best manner.
