And when the decree was: They have lost, and faith has escaped them; because they have wronged by concealing the testimony, so the wrongdoing was the cause of their loss. Who is more unjust than them! It is indicated that they altered their scripture, or attributed to it what is not in it. He said, placing the apparent in the position of their pronoun for that: "And who is more unjust than one who fabricates" meaning: deliberately "against Allah a lie" like those who distorted their scripture and attributed to Allah what He did not say, an addition they wrote with their own hands that has no basis, misleading from them His servants. "Or denied His signs" meaning: the ones brought by the messengers, like the Qur'an and others from the miracles, like the polytheists. No one is more unjust than them; they will not succeed. "Indeed, the wrongdoers will not succeed" meaning: so how about the most unjust!
