Commentary

And when it was as if someone asked: And what is this religion that has been repeatedly praised and called to? He answered by saying: So that the people of faith may take example from it, and adhere to all that it calls them to with sincerity: ﴿Say, indeed my prayer﴾ meaning: that which is the essence of religion and its purity ﴿and my rites﴾ meaning: all my acts of worship, including sacrifices and others ﴿and my life﴾ meaning: my life and all that it encompasses of time, place, and action ﴿and my death is for Allah﴾ meaning: the Greatest King, from whose command nothing escapes; and when he taught with the Greatest Name that He deserves this for Himself - he informed that He deserves it from everyone for His kindness towards them and His favors upon them, and he said: ﴿Lord of the worlds﴾ the Creator, the Planner, and the Sustainer of them.
