And when it included what has passed, the correction of monotheism with decisive evidence, the realization of the matter of decree and power, and the invalidation of all false religions, describing them by the division of their people, which indicates their invalidity and deviation. He concluded with this warning, which there is nothing more upright or just than it. He ﷺ commanded him to announce his matter and to describe the religion that he has legislated for him and guided him to, with what is in it of virtues, to endear it and encourage it. This is because that is a result of this surah. He said: ﴾Say﴿ and emphasized it by bringing the two 'n's. He said: ﴾Indeed, my Lord has guided me﴾, meaning: clarification and success. ﴾To a straight path﴾, meaning: a wide, clear way. Then he praised it by saying: ﴾A religion of uprightness﴾, meaning: of great moderation and steadfastness. This is according to the reading of Ibn Kathir, Nafi, and Abu Amr with the opening of the ق and the emphasis of the broken ي. In the reading of the others, it is with the breaking of the ق and the opening of the light ي, which is a source meaning standing, and he described it for emphasis. He added praise by saying, reminding them - to imitate their forefathers - that it is the religion of their greatest father: ﴾The religion of Abraham﴾. The religion is what the light of reason has revealed of guidance in the darkness of what people have adhered to of worldly customs - as stated by Al-Harali. Therefore, he said: ﴾Inclining﴾, meaning: gentle, easy, and accepting of uprightness, being inclined with the evidence, neither harsh nor stubborn, standing with blind imitation, oblivious to the light of evidence - as previously mentioned in Al-Baqarah. This is the meaning of his saying: ﴾And he was not of the polytheists﴾, meaning: those who are rigid with their delusions in claiming a partner for Allah, while they see Him as one who does not harm or benefit and is not suitable for the partnership of a human being, let alone anyone else in any way. They do not submit to evidence nor listen to a saying. This was a praise for this religion that he ﷺ guided to and a clarification that it is the one that He - glorified and exalted is He - chose for His friend Abraham - peace be upon him - returning to ﴾And when Abraham said to his father Azar﴿ [Al-An'am: 74], upon which the surah was indeed built, and its threads were cast upon him. This was an encouragement for this religion because all the opposers cling to the tails of Abraham - peace be upon him -: the Arabs and the people of the two scriptures by virtue of kinship, and the Magians by virtue of the land and brotherhood. He indicated by this that Muhammad ﷺ understood what his father Abraham - peace be upon him - argued with his people and accepted it, and he was not attributed (to anything) like others to rigidity or obstinacy.
