And when it was established that they had no proof, and it was confirmed that the matter is indeed for Allah - it was confirmed that He is the one who possesses the clear proof. So He said, explaining this: "Say, 'So for Allah'" meaning: the greatest deity alone, "is the conclusive proof" meaning: that which has reached the highest degrees of truth in strength, solidity, clarity, and precision because He encompasses all knowledge and possesses complete power, as you acknowledged when you said: "And if Allah had willed, we would not have associated anything" [Al-An'am: 148]. And if you said it as a means of obligation and stubbornness, not for the sake of faith and belief, "So if He willed" meaning: Allah, "He would have guided you all" meaning: you and your opponents. But He did not will that; rather, He willed the guidance of some and the misguidance of others. Thus, that occurred in the manner He willed. Therefore, according to your statement, it must be that the two groups are both right, and that one thing can be both true and untrue at the same time. This is something no sane person would say. It also necessitates that you be loyal to your opponents and not oppose them, even if they did what they did; because it is the right of Allah's pleasure, as it is by His will, and you do not say this. Thus, your statement is invalidated, and it is established that He may will falsehood because He is not questioned about what He does. He sends messengers to you to remove it, so that He may establish proof against those whom He intends to punish for what people commonly recognize among themselves. And the occurrence of the matter contrary to the will is not impossible.
