And when He distinguished the sheep into male sheep and female sheep, that sufficed for the differentiation of camels into the 'irab and the bukh, and cattle into the 'irab and the jawmis. [ - And because these reproduce among themselves, unlike the sheep, for no type of one reproduces with the other - this was narrated by Sheikh Badr al-Din al-Zarkashi in the book of (al-Wasaya) from the explanation of al-Minhaj from the book of al-A'dad by Ibn Suraka. ] He said: ﴿And of the camels, two﴾ meaning: a male and a female. ﴿And of the cattle, two﴾ meaning: likewise. ﴿Say﴾ meaning: to those who have fabricated out of ignorance and folly what has preceded from them, ﴿Are the two males﴾ meaning: from these two types, ﴿that Allah has prohibited﴾ meaning: Allah has prohibited them, ﴿or the two females﴾ meaning: He has prohibited them, ﴿or what their wombs contain﴾ meaning: that which is prohibited according to your claim, ﴿the wombs of the two females﴾ meaning: Allah has prohibited them.
And when the implication was: Did this come to you from Allah, for whom there is no judgment other than His, through the tongue of a Prophet? This was a reprimand to them and a denial of them by His saying: ﴿Or were you witnesses﴾ meaning: present ﴿when Allah commanded you﴾ meaning: He who has no king other than Him, so there is no judgment except for Him, ﴿with this﴾ meaning: as you have asserted about it, or you have asserted the prohibition in what you have prohibited and the permissibility in what you have permitted, and there is no prohibitor or permitter other than Allah, so you were thus attributing judgment to Him; and when the implication was as the context has produced: You have certainly lied against Allah when you attributed to Him what you did not take from Him, neither through an intermediary nor without an intermediary. This caused His saying (p-297) to be general so that it may be known that if this is in prohibition and permissibility, then lying in the foundations of religion is more severe: ﴿So who is more unjust﴾ and He placed the phrase (from you) in a general position and made the ruling conditional upon the description: ﴿than one who invents﴾ meaning: deliberately ﴿against Allah﴾ meaning: He who is greater than Him, for He is the King of kings ﴿a lie﴾ like Amr ibn Luhay, who changed the Shari'ah of Ibrahim - blessings and peace be upon him - and everyone who did like his action.
And when it was necessary from their legislation for these matters to mislead those who followed them in it from the straight path, and they claimed that they were the most discerning of people and the most knowledgeable of the details of matters in their beginnings and ends and what is necessary from them - He made the ultimate goal of their actions intended for them as mockery of them, so He said: ﴿to mislead the people﴾ and when misguidance may occur from the knowledgeable guide mistakenly - He said: ﴿without knowledge﴾.
And when this is a place of amazement from one who does this - He revealed it - glorified and exalted is He - with His saying, beginning anew: ﴿Indeed, Allah﴾ and He is the one for whom there is no judgment for anyone other than Him, does not guide them. Thus was the origin, but He made it apparent in a more general manner than their description so that the ruling upon them may be by the first way, so He said: ﴿does not guide the wrongdoing people﴾ meaning: those who place things in other than their proper places, so how about the most unjust! And how excellent is this conclusion for their rulings and how appropriate it is for what it is based upon from His saying ﴿Indeed, the wrongdoing will not succeed﴾ [al-An'am: 135].
