And when he rejected the religion of the polytheists and established his religion, and they had detailed the sanctity concerning the males of humanity and their females, he obligated them to detail it concerning the males of the livestock and their females. So he detailed the matter in a manner that clarified that their action is a weak fabric, far from the law of wisdom. It is a place for mockery and deserving of ridicule. He said, clarifying about ﴿a burden and a pasture﴾ [Al-An'am: 142] ﴿eight pairs﴾ meaning: types, no type of them is complete except with the other. He created them by the marriage of each of the male and the female of the other. And it is included in their naming the individual with the pair - on the condition that there is another of its kind - their naming the glass as a cup on the condition that it contains wine.

And when the pair is applied to the two and to what is with it another of its kind, he said, clarifying that this is the intended meaning, not the two detailed for these eight: ﴿of the sheep﴾ the plural of a male sheep and a female sheep like companion and companions ﴿two﴾ meaning: a male and a female, a ram and a ewe ﴿and of the goats﴾ the plural of a male goat and a female goat like servant and servants in the reading of Ibn Kathir and Abu Amr and Ibn Amer, and trader and traders in the reading of others ﴿two﴾ meaning: two pairs, a male and a female, a billy goat and a nanny goat.

And when it was as if it was said: what is the intended meaning of this detail before their questioning about their religion - he said: ﴿Say﴾ meaning: to them, asking; and when this questioning is in the meaning of reproach and ridicule and denial, he came with (Am) which is with the hamzah before it in the meaning of (which) so that he may understand by it what is known to be established of some of it, and it is only required to specify it. He said, interjecting between the counted ones, emphasizing the reproach; for interjections are only made for emphasis: ﴿the two males﴾.

And when the one being asked about is in the accusative, what follows it, not what precedes it, he said: ﴿Has forbidden﴾ meaning: Allah. So if that is the case, it is obligatory upon you to forbid all the males ﴿or the two females﴾ so that it is obligatory upon you to forbid all the females. And he encompassed all that is required from the other categories in his saying: ﴿Or has He forbidden﴾ meaning: has He forbidden what ﴿encompasses﴾ meaning: has included ﴿upon it﴾ and carried it ﴿the wombs of the two females﴾ meaning: of the males and the females. And when that is the case, it is obligatory upon you to forbid all, so you have not obligated anything from what this division necessitated, so you did not walk according to a system.

And when he knew that there is no system for them, he knew that they are deserving of reproach - he increased in reproaching them and said: ﴿Inform me﴾ meaning: inform me about what Allah has forbidden from this with a great, significant informing; and when this informing is described, it cannot be with anything in which there is doubt, he said: ﴿with knowledge﴾ meaning: a matter known from the side of Allah, there is no objection to it ﴿if you are truthful﴾ meaning: if you have this description.
