And when it was established that there is no equal for Him due to what He mentioned of His attributes and actions, and He clarified the invalidity of the statements of the polytheists, and He detailed their sects in the best of ways, and He demonstrated the invalidity of each one of them with the strongest arguments, it was established by that what He began the surah with regarding His encompassing of the attributes of perfection. He indicated all of that by the beginning of a news after it: ﴿That is﴾ meaning: the one with very high attributes who has no need for anything, and everything is in need of Him. ﴿Allah﴾ meaning: the one who has all perfection. ﴿Your Lord﴾ meaning: the one who created you and is gracious in all types of grace. Thus, it is the essence of what preceded it and its fruit; because whoever is described by that is indeed the Lord of all alone [and the Creator of all, and He alone deserves worship]. Therefore, He followed that with His saying: ﴿There is no deity except Him﴾ because the context is for the necessary monotheism that encompasses the attributes of perfection which is the meaning of the praise with which the surah begins. And He brought forth His saying: ﴿Creator of all things﴾ which is the introduction to what follows as a means of justification as evidence for that. When He established the proof, He caused the matter of worship to arise from it, so He said: ﴿So worship Him﴾ meaning: alone; because whoever associates partners with Him has not worshipped Him; because He is the Absolute Rich, and whoever has the Absolute Richness does not accept a partner. And He concluded the verse with His saying: ﴿And He﴾ and when the context is to negate His need for anything, He preceded His saying: ﴿Over all things, He is the Trustee﴾ indicating that a son or partner is needed only by the incapable and needy, whereas He is the Able, and whoever is other than Him is incapable, and He is the Rich and whoever is other than Him is poor. So how can the Able [the Rich] need the incapable poor? This is something that cannot be, nor should it be imagined by thoughts. And in this, there is an indication that the worshipper should devote himself to his worship and cut off his affairs from other than His trust, for He suffices him with His grace over others.
