Commentary
And when the proof was established that the party of Allah are the successful ones, for what He supported them with in this worldly life of victory and strength over the enemies, and kindness and support for the allies, and other actions that lead to the Garden of Abode. He explicitly stated at the end of the proof the loss of the party of Satan, so it was known that for them, with this humiliation, is the punishment of the Fire. And the deceived one, after this, being engrossed in this world and heedless of the Hereafter for the sake of fleeting desires and transient fortunes, acts like one who believes that there is no difference between the wretched in the Fire and the happy in the Garden. Due to his enduring the bitterness of the actions that include it, this resulted in his saying, making them equal to the one who is certain of this or the one who is heedless of it, as a warning to them about their error and a wake-up call from their heedlessness: "The companions of the Fire" which is the place of the greatest misery, "and the companions of the Garden" which is the abode of the greatest bliss, not in this world nor in the Hereafter. This is among the proofs that a Muslim is not killed by a disbeliever.
And when the negation of equality is not informative in itself of the higher of the two matters, this context is informative of what surrounds it from the signs of the exaltation of the people of the Garden. He made it clear in His saying: "The companions of the Garden are" specifically "the winners" who attain every beloved thing, escaping from every disliked thing. And the companions of the Fire are the doomed in both abodes, as occurred in this battle between the two groups of the believers and Banu Nadir and those who allied with them from the hypocrites. So how different they are.
