يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ إِذَا تَنَٰجَيۡتُمۡ فَلَا تَتَنَٰجَوۡاْ بِٱلۡإِثۡمِ وَٱلۡعُدۡوَٰنِ وَمَعۡصِيَتِ ٱلرَّسُولِ وَتَنَٰجَوۡاْ بِٱلۡبِرِّ وَٱلتَّقۡوَىٰۖ وَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ ٱلَّذِيٓ إِلَيۡهِ تُحۡشَرُونَ ٩ ﴿9
9O you who believe, when you hold secret counsel, do not whisper for sinful act and wrongdoing and disobedience of the prophet, and do whisper for righteousness and taqwā (piety). And fear Allah, before whom you will be gathered together.

And when He forbade secret counsel and condemned it and threatened it, that was a place to be thought that the prohibition is general for every secret counsel, even if it is for good. He began His saying calling out with the tool after which what follows has no great impact, expressing with the first words of faith due to the state necessitating it: "O you who have believed" meaning those who claim that they have attained this truth. "When you confer in secret" meaning each of you has taken the words from himself and raised them and revealed them to his companion secretly. "Then do not confer in secret" meaning do not make this truth apparent like the secret counsel of the hypocrites. "In sin" meaning the sin and every action for which a punishment is written due to it.

And when the generality was specified, He said: "and transgression" meaning that which is the severe enemy by which it harms, even if the transgressor thinks that no sin is written against him by it. The tents of greatness will be unveiled in it, and the complete enforcement of the word will appear, and the might of the overpowering will manifest in the realms of honor, and the flashes of pride will spread. So if you do that, being mindful of it, you will not advance towards anything you wish to conceal from the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, and that will be more pleasing to his eyes and purer for you.
