And when this engrossment in what does not benefit the listener is of the utmost amazement from the occurrence of a rational person falling into it even once in a lifetime, let alone their constant engagement in it, he informed about the one who leads them to it. He said, beginning: ﴿The devil has taken hold﴾ meaning he sought to dominate, drive, hasten, encircle, urge, overpower, and gain control over them. ﴿The devil has taken hold of them﴾ while [he is] an outcast and burning, and all of that was found from him, and he reached from them what he desired, and he dominated them in a way that they had no choice left with him. They became his subjects and his territories, and he became encompassing them from every direction, prevailing over them outwardly and inwardly. This is from their saying: 'I have taken possession of the camels' meaning I have gained control over them, and the donkey has gathered the herd - if it has collected and driven them, prevailing over them. And 'hudh' means swift driving, and from it is 'al-hudhiy': the lightness in walking due to its agility. And it came originally according to the correct ruling because it was not built on 'hudh' as it lacked a mere form; they did not say: 'he lacked': ﴿So he made them forget﴾ meaning it caused them, due to his taking hold of them, to forget ﴿the remembrance of Allah﴾ meaning the One who has the most beautiful names and the highest attributes after His remembrance was firmly established in their original nature. So they became ones who do not remember Him at all, neither in heart nor in tongue.

And when that was the case, it necessarily produced his saying: ﴿Those﴾ meaning those who have permitted themselves the furthest distance ﴿are the party of the devil﴾ meaning his followers, his troops, his group, his faction, and his companions, and those surrounding him and those who have allied with him to repel [what] has befallen him, meaning what has afflicted him and intensified upon him, the distanced and burning ones because they followed him and did not fear [in] his deception and the execution of what he wants, the reproach of a reproacher, even though all of it is defects and shortcomings. And they are naturally inclined to hate him, and they left the One who has all perfection, and His remembrance and love are firmly established in their nature. Therefore, the translation of this and its result is his saying: (p-393) ﴿Indeed﴾ and he confirmed their assumption of gain by what they have in this world of abundance and the appearance of support and being led astray by ease and abundance. He said: ﴿Indeed, the party of the devil﴾ meaning the outcast and burning ﴿they are﴾ meaning specifically ﴿the losers﴾ meaning those deeply entrenched in this description because they did not attain anything but expulsion and burning.
