Commentary
And when they acknowledged for them the encompassing existence, and mentioned what occurred by it and the preventing distinction, it became evident that there is no existence. They caused their saying: "So today" to mean that because of your actions, "no ransom will be taken" based on the passive form because the harmful thing is the lack of taking, "no existence of it" from a specific taker, and it should indicate the closure of the door of taking absolutely. "From you is a ransom" means a type of ransom, which is the substitute and the part for the soul in any case, whether little or much, or good or otherwise, because the deity is self-sufficient, and the opportunity for the action that He prescribed for the salvation of your souls has passed. And when they were denying, he emphasized and said: "Nor from those who disbelieved" meaning those who manifested their disbelief and did not conceal it as you concealed it for your equality with them in disbelief. And when it was as if it was said: So where shall we be? He said: "Your abode" meaning your dwelling, your residence, and your gathering, "is the Fire"; there is no place for you other than it. It will burn you as you used to burn the hearts of the righteous by your inclination towards desires, and your neglect of the rights of those in need. And he confirmed that with his saying: "It is" meaning no other than it, "your master" meaning your companion, your place of closeness, and your destination, and your supporter in a manner of "the greeting among them is a mutual greeting." So it is most deserving for you; there is no closeness for you to anything other than it, and nothing other than it is a master or a destination besides it, nor a supporter except it. And when the estimation was: So what a bad master it is, he added to it his saying: "And how evil is the destination" meaning this Fire to which you have turned.
