Commentary
So, peace [meaning safety] and salvation and a matter and a saying indicative of it. And when what the noble one is faced with of that is the highest, he said: "To you" meaning: O highest of creation or O you who is being addressed.
And when one who has attained peace in one of the ways is victorious, how about if he is a source of peace and a spring from it? He said: "From the companions of the right" meaning that they are in the utmost [state of] safety and manifestation of peace, which cannot be described. And it is a distinction in it with a meaning of amazement. For its addition does not provide a definition, and in the "from" there is an emphasis on that. The meaning is: As for them, it is a wonder for you, and you are the highest of people in every meaning, and the most knowledgeable of them in every strange matter regarding their safety, peace, health, sovereignty, honor, and high status. And all of that they have given for your sake as an increase in your honor for their following your religion. It is like the saying of the one who said:
O how wonderful is the night, as if its stars Are tied by every cavern of the valley.
And the saying of the one who also said:
May Allah bless Anu Shirwan, a man How knowledgeable he was of the lowly and the base.
Meaning, a wonder for you from the night and a wonder for Anu Shirwan.
