And when He mentioned the saved ones with their two categories, He followed them with their opposites and said: "And the companions of the left" meaning: the direction of evil and its place and their deeds. Then He magnified their sin and said: "What are the companions of the left?" meaning: because they are deserving to be asked about what has befallen them of evil, harm, and misfortune by the great power that has led them to what they have reached of the punishment that no sane person would do to himself, nor even an animal, with what has been instilled in them of sound minds and great thoughts. And He protected the former ones from the failure of these, and He brought them to the everlasting bliss.
