And when [glorified and exalted is He] indicated in these verses the wonders of His power and the marvels of His creation, He began with planting and concluded with fire and trees. He made obligatory what He alerted to from the remembrance of it and the contemplation of its matter, that it is among the causes of what preceded it, and that it is a cause for it, being a reason for affirming what it is for. All of that was an indication of the four elements. Ibn Burjan said: except that water and earth are for the creation of the corners, and the morals and attributes are for air and fire. And all of that, from all its aspects, was an astonishing matter. It indicated the increase of His greatness by the command of glorification, causing what that has conveyed. He said, turning away from those who may be inclined to denial, turning towards His noblest creation, indicating that no one understands this station as it should be understood except Him, and no one acts upon it as it should be acted upon except Him: "So glorify" meaning: perform the great glorification from every blemish of deficiency, from the abandonment of resurrection and others, especially after these evidences have reached the level of the tangible, a glorification of one astonished by the effects of His power that indicate the limit of His greatness, and a glorification of gratitude to Him, and exaltation of Him, and admiration, and glorification from what the deniers say, and astonishment from them, following all that is in the heavens and the earth. Among the most astonishing of that is that He has made Hellfire subservient to us in this abode. Ibn Burjan said: He made from it, by the heat of the sun, gardens, fruits, and crops, and livelihoods. And when the glorification of the name necessitated the glorification of the named, He said: "In the name of" meaning: being adorned with the mention of the name of "your Lord" meaning: the Benefactor after nurturing you with this greatest statement, with what He has specifically granted you that He has not given to anyone else. They established the letter 'alif' of connection here because its occurrence is not as frequent as its occurrence in the basmalah, and they omitted it from it due to its frequency, and they are concerned with brevity and reducing much when its meaning is known. This is well-known and not to be ignored, and the establishment of what has been established from its forms is not frequent evidence for its omission. Likewise, the 'alif' is not omitted with other than 'ba' in the name of Allah, nor with 'ba' in other than the names of majesty for the reason mentioned previously.

And when the station was for glorification, He said: "the Great" which has filled all the worlds with greatness, so there is nothing in it except that it is filled with His greatness, being exalted above any blemish of deficiency or missing anything of perfection. Al-Qushayri said: And these verses that He [glorified and exalted is He] enumerated are a preparation for following the path of reasoning. As in the report, "A moment of contemplation is better than the worship of sixty years." This is the thought that Allah has alerted to.
