Commentary
(p-195) Surah Al-Waqi'a
Its purpose is to explain the states of the three categories mentioned in Ar-Rahman for the righteous among the predecessors and successors, and the adversaries who oppose from the truthful and the hypocrites among the two weights, to indicate the completeness of power in action by choice, which is indicated by the end of Ar-Rahman by affirming perfection. And it is indicated by the end of this by glorifying and negating everything that has a deficiency, then affirming by describing greatness with all perfection of beauty and majesty. If people were equal, that would not be from profound wisdom, for their equality would be a semblance for the people of nature. Its name, Al-Waqi'a, indicates that by reflecting on its verses and what the context relates to (In the name of Allah) who has all perfection, and He differentiated between people in states (Ar-Rahman) who encompassed with the blessing of expression and favored acceptance among the people of turning away and the people of turning towards (Ar-Rahim) who brought the people of His party to the people of His closeness, and they succeeded with the beauties of words and actions.
* *When He, glorified is He, classified people into three categories: criminals, predecessors, and successors, and concluded with the reason for that, which is that He is the Avenger and the Honorer, He explained their states in this Surah and clarified the time in which His honoring and vengeance appear by what He mentioned in Ar-Rahman, the utmost manifestation. He said, building on what the context guided to, that His decree: all of that will be a being that shares in His specific and general knowledge: ﴿When the Event occurs﴾, meaning that which must occur, and no event deserves to be called the Event with the definite article of perfection and the letter of exaggeration other than it. It is the second blowing of the trumpet, from which the greater resurrection occurs, which is the universal Day of Judgment for all creation to judge between them in the evident singularity, in which there is no claimant for participation in it in any way. And it is permissible that 'when' is in the accusative case due to the omitted [phrase] so that the soul may go in every direction, and it would be more terrifying, meaning that when it occurs, there will be matters that the scope of limitation cannot encompass.
