Commentary

And when their journey was upon this methodology, with what they had in it of diligence in change and movement, in obedience from both of them to their planner, their originator, and their mover, and when their submission - they being the two great luminaries - indicated the submission of what is below them of the stars, by which it is more so, their mention was sufficient for the mention of what is besides them specifically. So, he followed them with the presence of what is for the earth, like the stars for the sky in adornment, benefit, harm, smallness, greatness, abundance, and scarcity of plants, presenting its small ones for the general benefit and great impact, as from it is the majority of sustenance for all animals and clothing from cotton, linen, and other wondrous matters. He expressed what is suitable for the rest of the stars and said: "And the star" meaning: and all the celestial stars and every plant that has risen from the earth and has no stem from the earthly plants which are the origin of the sustenance of man and all animals. "And the tree" and everything that has a stem and is enjoyed or is used for food. "They prostrate" meaning: they submit and yield to what is intended from them and they humble themselves for the benefit from them, yielding like the prostration of the wise to what they have been commanded, by their running for what they have been made subservient to, and their obedience to what has been decreed for them without refusal upon the renewal of times from growth in plants, and standing, and greening, and dryness, and fruiting, and idleness. The star cannot rise to the rank of the tree, nor can the tree descend to the depth of the star, nor anything else from what we have discussed regarding the prostration of shadows and the rotation of mountains. And the example of what indicates the oneness of the creator and His actions by choice, and the negation of natures, and from the movement in the stars and the management in benefits in heat and cold, which He, glorified and exalted is He, has made the balance in plants from fruits and sustenances, and other forms of benefits.
