Commentary

And when enjoyment is not complete in its beauty except with the luxury of fine bedding and others, he said, informing about those who fear the standing before their Lord, from the two kinds of humans and jinn, taking into account the meaning of 'from' after considering its wording, to affirm the reality: ﴿reclining﴾ meaning: they have what is mentioned in the state of reclining, which is the comfort of being in the position of sitting cross-legged or otherwise, being on their side. It is said in the dictionary: he leaned on it: he bore it, and relied on it like 'awka', and 'the support' is like 'hamzah': the stick, and what one leans on. And he struck it until he made him lean: he threw it in the manner of one reclining or on his left side. And Ibn al-Qatta' said: I struck him until I made him lean (p-183) meaning: he fell on his side. This indicates the completeness of enjoyment with good health and peace of mind. ﴿on beds﴾ and he magnified it by saying, addressing those obligated according to what their minds can bear; otherwise, there is nothing in Paradise that resembles anything from this world in reality. ﴿its linings﴾ meaning: so what do you think of its exteriors and surfaces? ﴿of brocade﴾ which is thick silk, in which there is beauty, its sheen is as if it is [from] the intensity of its luster, seeking to create it until it is as if it is pure light.

And when it may be difficult for the reclining one to stand up to take what he desires, he said: ﴿and the fruits of the two gardens﴾ meaning: their fruits are a name meaning the acted upon, as if he expressed it to convey the ease of the source of the action, which is the gathering. ﴿near﴾ meaning: close to everyone who desires it, whether reclining or otherwise, does not have to climb a tree, and it is available at all times, desired, neither cut off nor prohibited.
