Commentary

And when this is a comprehensive blessing, it is caused by His saying: ﴿So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?﴾ That is: the blessing of the Lord for you both and the benefactor towards you with His great kindnesses, which none other can achieve any of. ﴿You both deny﴾ the blessing of the scent from the left, which arises from the heart, or other than it from the soil of the gardens of this world, by the breath of Hell from the heat of the sun and its scorching. So He made from that all the fruits and crops, and other than that from the provisions which He prepared with it. ﴿And how many a sign in the heavens and the earth do they pass over while they are, therefrom, turning away﴾ [Yusuf: 105] and other than that from His blessings which cannot be counted.
