Commentary

And when he had defined what is for the criminal who dares to commit great sins, and presented it in accordance with what the position of arrogance necessitates from intimidation, and made it seven as a reference to the seven gates of Hell, he turned to what is for the fearful, whose fear has led him to obedience, and made it [eight] according to the [number of] eight gates of Paradise. He said: ﴿And for whoever﴾ [meaning:] and for every [one,] and he unified the pronoun in consideration of the wording 'who' as an indication of the scarcity of the fearful ﴿fearing﴾, meaning from the two weights.

And when the mention of fear from the time set for reckoning [and planning, and the place prepared for them is more eloquent than the mention of fear from the accounting king] who manages, and fear with the mention of the description of honor is more eloquent than the mention of fear when mentioning the attributes of majesty, he indicated by this that the mentioned is the head of the fearful: ﴿the position of his Lord﴾ meaning: the place of his standing which he establishes, and others in it, the one who is good to him for judgment, and his time which he has set for him, and his standing upon it and upon [others] with management.
