Commentary
And when it was as if it was said: So what is with His creation for him, he said: ﴿He taught him the expression﴾ and it is the speaking power. It is the perception of all matters, both general and specific, and the judgment of the present and the absent by comparing it to the present sometimes by intuition, and at other times by calculation, and sometimes by divination and prohibition, and at times by looking into the horizons and other matters, along with the distinction between good and evil and other things that He, glorified and exalted is He, has endowed him with. Along with his expression of what he has perceived by what is absent in his inner self and his understanding of others sometimes by words and sometimes by actions, in speech and writing, gestures, and others. Thus, he became by that capable of perfection in himself and of completing others. This is the teaching of expression that enabled the teaching of the Qur'an. And although He, glorified and exalted is He, created us upon it and fashioned us with it, it has become familiar and well-known to us. However, it is with others different from that, which He, glorified and exalted is He, clarified for us as a blessing upon us by His argumentation with His noble angels concerning our Prophet Adam, blessings and peace be upon him, and what He showed them of his knowledge and astonished them with the form of everything with its meaning and name.
