And when the jinn, which is also included in the name of creation, is created from the four elements, and most of its nature is fire, Allah, the Exalted, said: ﴿And He created the jinn﴾. This refers to the type that is hidden from the eyes by the creation of their father. It is a plural name for the jinn. And since the term jinn is also applied to the angels due to their concealment, it was clarified that they are not intended here, as He said: ﴿From a smokeless fire﴾. This means something pure, clear, and intensely turbulent, and mixed. Al-Baghawi said: It is the pure flame of fire that has no smoke in it. Al-Qushayri said: It is the flame mixed with the blackness of fire - this is the end of it. And their fire has mixed - meaning it has become confused - with the cold of the extreme cold. And since the marij is general in fire and other things, it was specified by His saying: ﴿From fire﴾, which is the predominant element among them. Thus, the intended meaning of mentioning fire is that the angels, peace be upon them, are from light and not from fire. And they do not have turbulence or confusion; rather, they are in the utmost stability in obedience to what they have been commanded. And every turbulent one has recognized his measure by this, so that he does not exceed his limit.
