And when he clarified his supplication with what was overwhelming about the matter, he clarified the state of those being called as an addition to the horror, saying: ﴿Their eyes humbled﴾. This means: they look with the gaze of the submissive, the humiliated, the lowly in status, the terrified, who is in a wretched state. He attributed humility to the eyes because honor and humiliation are evident from the gaze. Indeed, humiliation is when its owner casts it to the ground, for example, with a posture from which that can be recognized, as Allah, the Most High, said: ﴿Humbled by humiliation, they look from a side glance﴾ [Ash-Shura: 45]. The singular form in the recitation of Abu Amr, Ya'qub, Hamzah, and Al-Kisai indicates that humility has reached a degree of intensity, and its attribution to every gaze is on equal terms. It was gathered according to the language of 'the locusts have eaten me' in the recitation of the others with the letter (p-101) 'kha' being pronounced with a dammah and the 'sheen' being emphasized while open, or relying on the ones being called. The sight indicates that all of this is distributed among the eyes.

And when he clarified their state in such a way that indicates the horror of that day, he clarified how they will emerge, explaining what is necessary to conceive the increase of terror, saying: ﴿They will emerge﴾. This means: in a manner of renewal, the noblest first and then the less noble, ﴿from the graves﴾, meaning: the graves prepared to hear the blowing of the trumpet. ﴿As if they﴾, in their multitude and the piling of some over others, from their elders and their young, their weak and their strong, ﴿are like scattered locusts﴾. This means: dispersed, confused, obedient to the one who has spread them after they were in a state of mixed stillness, some of them with others, having no direction in reality that they aim for if they were left to themselves.
