Commentary

And when He clarified that everything is by His action, He clarified the ease and simplicity of that for Him. He said: "And Our command" meaning everything we intend, even if its effect is great, and He magnified the status and belittled the created things by using the feminine form. He said: "except one" meaning an easy action with no difficulty in it, and there is no need for a saying because it is ancient. Rather, the connection of ability to the created thing is according to the eternal will. Then He illustrated that for us with the quickest thing that one can comprehend and the lightest of it. He said: "like a glance of the eye." Just as the glance of one of you with his eye has no burden upon him in it, so too are all actions, rather easier than that.
