And when the Most High preceded His saying: ﴿So what benefit are warnings?﴾ [Al-Qamar: 5] and followed it with the mention of His destruction of the deniers, what He mentioned regarding their affair is in grandeur and greatness, such that it is right for the listener to ask about it and to learn about their conditions to be guided by it. This is by His saying, causing reflection through the questioning of denial and reproach: ﴿So how was﴾ meaning how was found and realized ﴿My punishment﴾ meaning for whoever denied and disbelieved and denied My messengers ﴿and warnings﴾ meaning the warnings that came from Me and the warners who conveyed from Me. Indeed, He saved Noah, peace be upon him, and those who believed with him from his children and others, and He granted them enjoyment after the destruction of their enemy, and He made all people now from his offspring. Al-Qushayri said: In this is strength for the hope of the people of religion when they encounter a trial in the religion of Allah, while others deny what Allah has given them, that Allah will soon destroy their enemy and enable them in their homes and lands and inherit them what was due to them. And likewise is the way of Allah with all the people of misguidance - this has ended.

And the meaning in repeating that to them after the reminder of what We brought them of the stories of these nations is made easy for the understanding of their small and large, their males and females, how was My seizing of them and the consequence of My threatening them, perhaps they may take admonition, and the warning of the warners may benefit them.
