Commentary
And when he presented the Book of Musa, blessings and peace be upon him, for being the greatest Book after the Qur'an, although it is present among the people and can be reviewed, he said: ﴿And Ibrahim﴾ and praised him by saying, indicating with the emphasis of the verb on the utmost fulfillment: ﴿Who fulfilled﴾ meaning he completed what he was commanded and what he was tested with, and he did not fear anything from fear. He was the first to migrate from his people and endured the heat of slaughtering his son, as well as the heat of the fire, and he did not seek help from a created being. He specifically mentioned these two prophets because the claimants among the Children of Israel, the Jews, claim to follow 'Isa, blessings and peace be upon him, and among the Arabs, they claim to follow Ibrahim, blessings and peace be upon him. Those other than them have no basis for them, nor any predecessor in a confirmed prophethood or a preserved Shari'ah. Then he explained what is in the scrolls or began with his saying:
