Commentary
And when this was the case - and it has fallen into a great danger of corrupting the work in the past and leaving it in the future - he has become upon a great error in one of the two matters that relate to the essence of the religion: disbelief and faith. Such a thing is not done by a sane person by himself except with insight. Allah, the Most High, said, reproaching him and admonishing him: "Is there with him knowledge of the unseen?" meaning, specifically, "all of it, such that no one can share with him in it, and nothing can be hidden from him of it?" So it follows from that that he "sees," meaning the complete vision, and he knows all that benefits him, so he commits to it, and all that harms him, so he avoids it. And he knows that this little that he has been given has been accepted, and he is safe with it from destruction, so he is content with it.
