Commentary

And when He, glorified and exalted is He, informed about the steadfastness of the path of His Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, which his message was established by what was revealed to him and what He showed him of His signs, by which his right to divinity was proven, being unique in it, it caused denial from them regarding the worship of their deities in a manner indicating that they are not suitable for righteousness. So He said: "Have you considered?" meaning, inform me of the reason for what I recited to you of these clear signs. Have you seen the vision of knowledge regarding the hidden and the apparent? "Al-Lat," which is an idol of Thaqif, and "Al-Uzza," which is a tree of Ghatafan, and they are the greatest of their idols, for they used to swear by them.
