﴿He did not deviate﴾ means he did not lean even slightly. ﴿The sight﴾ means that which no created being has a more complete sight than it. So, it did not fall short of looking at what it was permitted to look at, nor did it exceed. ﴿And he did not transgress﴾ means he did not go beyond the limit to what he was not permitted to look at, even though that world is strange to the children of Adam. In it are wonders that perplex the observer. Rather, he had true chastity that is moderate between greed and asceticism, based on the most complete principles of justice. So, he affirmed what he saw as it truly is. As Al-Suhrawardi said at the beginning of the thirty-second chapter of his 'Awarif': And Allah informed of his good manners in the presence with this verse.
