Commentary
And when this was firmly established, and it was a point of denial against them, He said, causing them to reflect on that: "Do you argue with Him?" meaning, do you extract from Him through your disputation regarding what He has informed you of, with doubt in it, while there is no doubt in it? And He expressed this with the form of mutual action in the reading of the congregation, referring to their efforts in causing doubt. From the meaning of 'maraa' regarding a thing: to extract it, and 'maraa' regarding the she-camel: to wipe its udder, so 'amraa': its milk flowed. And 'miryah' with the kasrah and the dammah: doubt and argument. "As he sees" refers to the correspondence of the heart and sight, and this is something that has not been customary for doubt to enter into it nor for it to accept disputation. The matter was made even clearer by depicting the past situation with the present tense, indicating that just as he did not hesitate, the matter was not confusing to him, but rather as if he is now looking.
