"They are"; that is, specifically, "the plotted against"; that is, the evil of the plot is specific to them, and its cutting off from them, because whoever has Allah against him is a loser. The closest outcome for them from the apparent plot in Badr is after the completion of the years counted, the count of which here is from 'or', and it is fifteen times, because Badr was in the second year of the Hijrah, and it is the fifteenth of the Prophethood. Allah caused in it from the causes that necessitated their striving towards their destruction with matters that are extraordinary to the norm. If they had insight, it would have sufficed them in guidance and turning away from misguidance and error.
