Commentary
'And the Sacred House' which is a standing place for the people, just as the dome of the time was a standing place for the Children of Israel. This is if the Most High intended by it the Kaaba, in which they hung the document after they had rebuilt it and disagreed over who would place the Black Stone in its place. Their disagreement increased until they prepared for battle and allied against it. Among them was the blood drinker, and among them were the perfumers, as is well-known in the histories. Then they were guided to agree that the first one to enter through a designated door would judge between them. The first to enter was the Prophet ﷺ, and they all said: 'This is Muhammad, this is the trustworthy one, we are pleased with his judgment.' So he ﷺ ruled that the noble stone be placed in a cloth, and the chief of each tribe would take a corner of it and they would all lift it together. When they reached its place, he ﷺ took it with his blessed hand and placed it in its location. Thus, his pride was multiplied by his judgment and his reconciliation among them, and his distinction in placing it while it was frequented by visitors and service and the multitude of attendants.
