"Or do they have a ladder by which they ascend to the heaven?" They listen, meaning they intend to hear everything that occurs in it and from it. "In it" means in that ladder and because of it, just as some who attend the gatherings of kings in this world know what happens in them so that they can be aware of what comes from the king, and they know that what they have said about you is true. And since one who is like this is capable of bringing forth wonders from it, it caused him to say: "So let their listener come," if they claim that, "with a clear authority," meaning a compelling, evident proof in itself, clarifying that it is from the heaven regarding the truth of what they are accusing you of.
