Commentary
(p-3) And when the earth was the tablet of the heavens from which the warning comes, and the mountains were the strongest of it, He mentioned its greatest sign. And the Book was the tablet of the writer, and the divine books were the most established of the books. And the Mount Sinai had a divine book that was revealed in it, He said: ﴿And a Book﴾. And He affirmed its matter by His saying: ﴿Written﴾, meaning it is consistent in writing with arranged lines of ordered letters that gather words that are consistent, like the Book of Moses, peace be upon him, which was revealed to him and with much of it He spoke to him on the mountain. And the indefinite article is for the purpose of magnification, for if what is meant is the divine books, then it is the most established of things. And if what is meant is the Qur'an specifically, then it is the most established of them; there is no changer of its words. And if what is meant is the scroll of Quraysh, they thought it was the most established of covenants. And He mentioned the most trustworthy of what is written in it and the strongest and most precise of it, so He said:
