And when he mentioned what the disbelievers have of the punishment referred to by the words of the oath, he followed it with what their opposites have of the reward also indicated by those words, to complete the news with encouragement and warning. He said in response to one who might have asked: 'What is for those who oppose them in You?' affirming what the disbelievers have of denial: 'Indeed, the righteous,' meaning those for whom piety has become a firmly established attribute, 'are in gardens,' meaning perpetual orchards in this world by decree and in the Hereafter.
And when the orchards might cause distress to their inhabitants or owners, he negated this by saying: 'and in bliss,' meaning bliss in this life, referring to what they are in of companionship, and in the Hereafter by action. He further emphasized the reality of enjoyment by saying:
