Commentary
And when this disagreement is something that is hardly believable; because no sane person would fall into it, he clarified its cause by saying that they are overwhelmed by the might of power. He said: ﴿Yū'faḳu﴾ meaning: it is turned away by the easiest and simplest matter from the paths of uprightness, and it is turned from its face to its back. ﴿‘Anhu﴾ meaning: its diversion from this saying occurs metaphorically due to the disgrace that accompanies it. For this reason, he says: ﴿Man ‘ufika﴾ meaning: it has been turned by a conquering heart; that is, it has become clear by this diversion, which is the greatest diversion, that He decreed in eternity a fixed and comprehensive decree. Thus, no saying or action can divert from it except that it is turned away from its face to its back. It is impossible for anything to come from Him in its face, so it is as if there is no one else to be turned away from due to the intensity of its deception and the strangeness of its matter.
