Commentary

And when He, glorified and exalted is He, informed about the permanence of His news, He followed it with the news of their speech. He said, swearing by it due to their exaggeration in affirming its meanings along with the contradiction in their beautiful actions and magnificent deeds. This indicates that they did not embody His excellent morals in word or deed: "By the heaven with its constellations"; meaning: the verses that are intertwined by the paths of the stars, the precise, beautifully crafted, well-arranged, and adorned ones, until they seem woven. They are beautifully crafted, magnificent in their effects, combining between clarity and ambiguity, agreement and disagreement. The essence of weaving is precision in extension and continuity, as stated by Al-Razi in his Al-Lawami'.
