Commentary
And when the concern for the matter of provision - which He, glorified and exalted is He, has guaranteed - distracts from much of worship, and a person thinks that what he has obtained of provision is due to his own effort, he means by saying this to affirm the removal of such assumptions. He is directing the words to the context of the Greatest Name, which no one else possesses, explicitly indicating the intended meaning and reaching the utmost guidance: ﴿Indeed, Allah﴾ meaning: the One who encompasses all attributes of perfection, free from any defects ﴿He is﴾ meaning: no one else ﴿the Provider﴾ meaning: in a manner of repetition for every living being and at all times. Then he described Him with what clarifies the insignificance of that, saying: ﴿Possessor of strength﴾ meaning: which does not diminish in any way ﴿the Firm﴾ meaning: the one who is always strong and enduring.
