And when he completed the story of the one for whom the clouds, water, fire, and wind were gathered, he followed it with the story of the one who came to them with a fierce wind, the like of which had never been found. Its origin was present among them, and they were unaware of it. Rather, it approached them while they thought it was something that would benefit them: "And in 'Aad" meaning: a great sign "when" meaning: at the time "We sent" with Our greatness "upon them" the sending of a mighty force and taking "the wind". It came to them carrying a black cloud, and it scattered the sand and threw stones in a manner that was unbearable. "The barren" meaning: that which has no fruit, so it does not pollinate trees, nor does it create clouds, nor does it carry rain, nor mercy in it, nor blessing. Therefore, it destroyed them with a destruction of total annihilation. Then he clarified its barrenness and infertility with his saying:
