And when it was known that the people would sometimes be in clay and sometimes in hair, and it was known from the previous verses that the punishment is specific to those who are extravagant, this led to a detailed account of their news by His saying, the Exalted, informing that they are in clay: ﴿So We brought out﴾ by what We have of greatness after Our messengers went to them, and there were known attempts between them and Lot, blessings and peace be upon him, which did not necessitate mentioning here. The angels are the cause of their punishment, and the people of the town who attempted in their matter do not know that. This expression, if it is news for us, is news about what has occurred for us to take heed, and if it is for Ibrahim, blessings and peace be upon him, its meaning is that the greatest judgment occurred by their expulsion as a glad tidings for him of their salvation ﴿Whoever was in it﴾ meaning: its villages. And when the heart is the foundation of the body, by which it is either rectified or corrupted, its actions are the best of actions because by it the submission of the limbs or their rebellion occurs. He began with it and said: ﴿From the believers﴾ meaning: those who affirm with their hearts, for we do not equate them with the criminals. So We saved them from the punishment despite their fewness and weakness and the strength of the opponents and their multitude. This was caused by frowning, covering, and exposing the apparent and the hidden, His saying:
