Commentary

﴿When﴾ means: their talk when ﴿they entered upon him﴾ means: an entrance of superiority contrary to the entrance of the rest of the guests. ﴿So they said, 'Peace'﴾ means: we greet, then he began to inform about his response by saying: ﴿He said﴾ means: with his tongue: ﴿Peace﴾ means: a lasting and permanent peace, for it is better than their greeting.

And when what was mentioned of their entrance and their greeting was not surprising to those being addressed by this, and the story had begun with what indicated the strangeness of what is narrated from it, the listener became eager for what was after this, so it was answered by saying: ﴿A people﴾ means: people of strength in what they attempt and stand in. ﴿Denounced﴾ means: their condition is such that it is worthy for the denouncer to deny it. This was presented before its place which was more fitting for it in what appears at first glance, and clarification that the context is for the obscurity of the reasons to the human and their distance, even if they are in the utmost clarity and proximity, even if it is the utmost of elevation; for his denial of them was delayed from bringing forth the food because they did not eat, and this saying was in himself and he did not confront them with it.
