Commentary
And when He mentioned these magnificent creations, He explained them by saying: "a reminder". This means: We have made all these things so that you may look at them with your eyes, then reflect with your insight, so that you may pass from them to their Creator, and know what greatness belongs to Him. "And a reminder" means: and to remember through them with a great remembrance, with what you have of powers and abilities, so that you may know, due to your inability regarding all of that, that its Creator is not hindered by anything, and that He encompasses all attributes of perfection. If there were any blemish of deficiency upon Him, this strange and wondrous creation would not have overflowed from Him.
And when one who does not benefit from something is as if he is devoid of that thing, He limited the matter to the one who benefits and said: "For every servant" who remembers with what he has of deficiency and with what this creation indicates of perfection, that he is a servant who is nurtured by his Creator. And when man, due to his deficiency, always finds that the more his intellect elevates him, his nature pulls him down, he might sometimes think that he does not return. This is due to his desire to return by saying: "repentant". This means: one who turns back from what his nature has lowered him to, to what his intellect elevates him to. So he returns from witnessing these actions to witnessing these attributes to the knowledge of the Essence.
