Commentary
Whoever fears and does not prepare the neighbor, for there is no objection before it like the first. He pointed out the abundance of his fear by saying: 'the Most Gracious.' This is because if he fears while recalling the general mercy for the obedient and the disobedient, then his fear while recalling something else is more appropriate. Al-Qushayri said: The expression of that is to indicate that it is a fear that is accompanied by comfort, meaning hope, as is appropriate. He said: And for this reason, he did not say: 'the Compeller' or 'the Subduer.' He said: It is said that fear is gentler than fright; it is as if it is close to awe. 'In the unseen' means: accompanying it without seeking a sign or a matter that leads him to the limit of unveiling, but he is sufficient with the conclusive proofs, of which is that he is a servant, so he must have a Lord. This is also a clarification of the profoundness of his fear.
And since the beneficial obedience is continuous until death, he said: 'And came' meaning: after death, 'with a heart turning' meaning: returning to Allah, glorified and exalted is He, with the motivation of knowledge. And it was not said: 'with a soul,' out of kindness to the sinners; for although their souls may have fallen short, they do not lack sincerity of heart, so they have regret in their hearts and sincerity of remorse.
