And when this saying is something that terrifies and causes hearts to tremble upon its mention, he depicted its time in a way that increases that terror. The saying cannot describe it, nor can one hope to escape from it by strength or power. So he said what means: [It will be] all of this on the ﴿Day﴾. And since the intended purpose is to inform that the Fire is great despite its constriction, it encompasses from the creatures what cannot be contained under a limit. And that, despite its hatred for those who enter it and its frowning upon them, it desires their downfall in it and their attraction to it. He expressed this in a figurative manner by saying: ﴿We say﴾, meaning: according to our greatness that [cannot] be concealed from it ﴿for Hell﴾, the abode of torment, with hatred, frowning, and scowling, to manifest the horror by depicting the threatened matter, and to reprimand the disbelievers, and to alert whoever hears this news about this question from heedlessness: ﴿Has it filled up﴾? So our saying is true: ﴿I will surely fill Hell with jinn and men all together﴾ [Hud: 119]. And that is after what will be thrown into it from the creatures that cannot be encompassed by description, so it will say: No.

﴿And it will say﴾, in obedience to Allah and out of love for the torment of His enemies, and to inform that it has not filled up; for the Fire, by its nature, the more it is increased with fuel, the more it blazes: ﴿Is there any more﴾? Meaning: an increase or something from the sinners as an addition, whether it is much or little; for I encompass whatever is brought to me, and it will continue to be like that as it has been reported in the hadith: "Hell will continue to be filled, and it will say: Is there any more until the Almighty places His foot in it." Meaning: He strikes it with His might with a whip of humiliation, so some of it will shrink back to others, and it will say: Enough, enough, by Your might. Then they will continue between the states of heat and extreme cold. And Allah, glorified is He, has made for that a sign in this world by the difference of time in heat and cold. So when the heat becomes excessive, His mercy comes [with cold and water from the sky, and they mix together, so there is moderation. And when the cold becomes excessive, His mercy comes] with heat through the sun, and the two existents mix, so there is moderation for it. And all of that [has] measured cycles with known portions determined by the Almighty, the All-Knowing - this was mentioned by Ibn Burjan.
