Commentary
And when He negated - glorified and exalted is He - their guardianship; in the sense of love; and in the sense of support; and in the sense of closeness in every regard; this resulted in the restriction of the guardianship of everyone who claims faith in Him; and in His allies; He said: ﴿Indeed, your guardian is Allah﴾; meaning: because He is the One capable of what is necessary for the guardian; and no one else is capable of anything from that; except by Him - glorified and exalted is He -; and when He mentioned the truth of the sincerity of guardianship to Him; informing of the individuals of the beginning that He is the origin in that; and what is besides Him is subordinate; He followed it with whom His guardianship - glorified and exalted is He - is known by their guardianship; beginning with their most rightful; He said: ﴿and His Messenger﴾; and He added him to Him to show His exaltation; ﴿and those who believe﴾; meaning: they have established faith; and they have acknowledged it; then He described them with what confirms their claim of faith; He said: ﴿those who establish prayer﴾; meaning: enabling them to connect with the Creator; ﴿and give zakah﴾; as a kindness to the creation; and His saying: ﴿while they are bowing﴾; it can be that it is conjoined with "establishing"; meaning: and they are among the people of bowing; and it would be a specific virtue for the believing Muslims; and that is because the Jews and Christians do not have bowing in their prayers - as has been explained in "Aal 'Imran"; and it can be a state of the doer of giving; and in the reasons for revelation that it was revealed regarding Ali - may Allah be pleased with him -; a questioner asked him while he was bowing; so he threw him his ring; and he gathered - even if the reason is one - encouragement for similar actions of goodness; and hastening it; so that it is not thought that this is specific to him.
