And when he advised him with what would prevent him from killing him; and he turned towards saving his own soul; he informed him again that the fear of Allah prevented him from opposing himself; softening his heart with what is worthy of turning him away from it; for fear that the opposition would lead him to transgress the permitted limit; because his brother was disobedient; not a polytheist; he said - confirming with an oath; because what he informs of is great; it is hardly believable -: "If you extend your hand to kill me"; meaning: specifically; "to kill me"; meaning: to bring that about; in any way it may be; then he insisted on informing him of his refusal to oppose; he said: "I am not"; and he immersed in denial; he said: "by one who extends"; meaning: originally; and he placed the object of the verb first; generally; then he specified the relevant part; for the appropriateness of the situation he said: "my hand to you to kill you"; meaning: at any time among the times; and perhaps he came with the nominal sentence indicating the negation of permanence and continuity; out of respect for Allah in not judging the future; then he justified it by saying: "Indeed, I fear Allah"; meaning: I bring to mind all that I can bring to mind of His perfection; then he described Him with kindness towards His creation; so that would prevent him from harming any of them; he said: "Lord of the worlds"; meaning: the One who bestowed upon them the blessing of existence; then nurturing; so I do not want to destroy what He has built; and this is like what Uthman did - may Allah be pleased with him.
