يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ ٱذۡكُرُواْ نِعۡمَتَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيۡكُمۡ إِذۡ هَمَّ قَوۡمٌ أَن يَبۡسُطُوٓاْ إِلَيۡكُمۡ أَيۡدِيَهُمۡ فَكَفَّ أَيۡدِيَهُمۡ عَنكُمۡۖ وَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَۚ وَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ فَلۡيَتَوَكَّلِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ ١١ ﴿11
11O you who believe, remember Allah’s favour upon you, when some people planned to lay their hands on you, and He kept their hands away from you. Fear Allah; and in Allah the believers should place their trust.

And when He commanded them to remember the favor; He turned to that command with the command to fear the One who bestows blessings that He may change His favor into wrath; so He said: "And fear Allah"; meaning: the King whose vengeance cannot be endured; for there is no equal to Him; in caution from Him empowering your enemies against you; and from other than that of His might.

And when the decree was: 'Upon Allah alone in every situation, so place your trust; for He is worthy of the victory of whoever turns to Him; He then referred to His saying - generalizing and linking the ruling to the description -: ﴿And upon Allah﴾; meaning: alone; for there is nothing like Him; ﴿So let the believers place their trust﴾; meaning: at all times; for He prevents them if He wills like this prevention; and if the situation intensifies; and the matter becomes severe; so place your trust; and do not retreat from your enemies whom Allah has promised you their lands; and their homes; and their children; and do not fear their numbers; just as the Children of Israel feared - as will be narrated to you -; and His saying here: 'the believers'; and in the story of the Children of Israel: 'If you are believers'; is a strong bond; indicating the status of the two groups; and at that time it was good to follow it with what has preceded regarding the matter of the pass; and the matter of Banu Nadir; in their breaking of their covenant; and their treachery; with what they intended regarding the killing of the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him; by throwing a stone upon him from the roof of the house where they seated him beside it; by His saying - indicating that the Jews have long been in breach; warning the believers not to be like them in breach; so that what befell them from humiliation does not befall them; and informing that His habit - glorified and exalted is He - in imposing obligations is ancient; not specific to them; rather it is general for His servants; and He has charged the people of the Book; honoring them with what He has charged them with; and He encouraged them; and warned them; to compete with them in obedience; for when the matter is general, it becomes easy; and when a person competes, he strives to take the prize; and He confirmed the news with that so that it is not thought due to their intense preoccupation with themselves that they had no prior covenant before that; so He said (the Most High) -:
