Commentary
And when He presented the promise; because it is in the Surah of those who have believed; He followed it with the warning for their opposers; and it is the greatest promise for His beloved believers as well; so He said: "And those who have disbelieved"; meaning: they have covered what has become clear to their minds from the evidence of oneness; "and have denied"; meaning: in addition to the concealment with stubbornness; "with Our signs"; regarding what they have of greatness in themselves; and by adding it to us; "Those are"; meaning: the hated ones; the far ones from mercy specifically; "the companions of the Hellfire"; meaning: the fire; which has intensified in its blazing; so its redness has intensified; and nothing sees it except that it shrinks away from it; so they will be thrown into it for what they have done that is deserving of shrinking away from it; from the denial of what no one should deny; then they will remain in it; and they will not cease from it; just as is the case of the companion.
